Apache Ignite

A distributed database for mission-critical, high-velocity applications requiring in-mem.

Visit Apache Ignite

Apache Ignite is a distributed SQL database built around a memory-first architecture, designed for high-velocity workloads that need in-memory performance alongside ACID transactions, MVCC, and Raft-based distributed replication. It addresses the trade-offs common in distributed systems between speed and consistency, durability and availability, and simplicity and scalability. It supports event stream processing, session management, microservices state management, AI/ML feature stores, operational analytics, fast data marts, and IoT and time-series data.

Core capabilities include memory-first storage with AIPERSIST and AIMEM tiers, full ACID transactions across partitions, SQL access via JDBC drivers, Table API with RecordView and KeyValueView, and native APIs. Schema evolution is catalog-driven with atomic versioning, and backpressured streaming is supported through DataStreamer. Schema-driven data placement uses colocateBy annotations and distribution zones, while colocated compute executes jobs on nodes holding the data. Operational features include OpenTelemetry metrics, Raft snapshots, Meta Storage backup, authentication, and SSL/TLS. Native clients are available for Java, .NET, C++, and Python, with partition-aware routing. Apache Ignite is open-source software distributed by the Apache Software Foundation, with no paid editions or usage-based pricing indicated.
