AliasVault is an open-source, end-to-end encrypted password and email alias manager that lets users create unique identities, passwords, and email addresses for each website. It is designed for privacy-conscious individuals who want to control how websites see and track them, reduce spam, and limit exposure in data breaches. Data is encrypted locally with AES-256-GCM using a key derived from the master password via Argon2id, and the master password never leaves the device.
Core capabilities include password and passkey storage, a built-in 2FA authenticator, secure notes and attachments, an alias generator, and a built-in email server that receives and encrypts incoming mail directly in the vault. It offers offline mode with local editing and automatic sync, browser extensions for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari, Brave, Vivaldi, and Opera, and iOS and Android apps with native autofill and biometric unlock. Import is supported from 1Password, Bitwarden, Chrome, Dashlane, Firefox, KeePass, KeePassXC, Proton Pass, and Strongbox. Users can run the official cloud service or self-host via Docker with an admin panel and audit logs.
The core version is free for both cloud-hosted and self-hosted use, with optional premium features such as additional storage and automatic snapshots planned for the future. Email aliases are currently receive-only with a 10 MB incoming size limit. Password sharing, custom domains on cloud, and family and team management are marked as coming soon.
