Tonido
Turn your computer into a personal cloud server for syncing and sharing files.
Tonido was a personal cloud platform designed to let users keep their own files and access them remotely through a web browser and mobile devices. It addressed the need for file synchronization and off-site access without relying on third-party storage services. The product also included TonidoPlug, a network-attached storage appliance described as a "cloud-in-a-plug" for small businesses.
Tonido offered unlimited storage, data security controls, and access from any device. Its successor, FileCloud, is described as an enterprise file sharing and sync platform with compliance-oriented features. FileCloud capabilities listed include Desktop Sync Client, FileCloud Drive App, Endpoint Backup, ServerSync hybrid cloud, ServerLink multi-site, data governance, smart content classification, data leak prevention, branding and customization, network folders with NTFS support, full-text search, advanced audit, admin controls, anti-ransomware protection, multi-tenancy, high availability, third-party app integration, and deployment as a microservice on AWS or Azure.
Tonido has been discontinued. The company states that Tonido software and web access continue to work on a local network, and recommends FileCloud Community Edition with dynamic port forwarding for remote access. FileCloud is available as a community edition, with FileCloud Online and self-hosted options, and is aimed at enterprises, managed service providers, and organizations with compliance requirements.
