Seafile is an open-source file sync and share platform that provides cloud storage, file sharing with granular permissions, metadata-based file organization, built-in collaborative document editing (SeaDoc), and wiki-style knowledge bases. It can be self-hosted on-premises or used through its cloud offering, SeafilePlus Cloud.

Seafile includes extensible file properties, custom views (table, gallery, kanban, map), multi-level file tagging, and AI-powered metadata generation. It supports granular folder permissions, secure share links, activity logs, and version history. SeaDoc offers real-time co-authoring with revision and review workflows, while knowledge bases (Wikis) allow nested subpages with rich content and version tracking. Seafile integrates with OnlyOffice and CollaboraOnline for Office file editing, and supports LDAP/AD, SSO (ADFS, Shibboleth), WebDAV, and AWS S3. Security features include client-side encryption, two-factor authentication, remote wipe, audit logging, and server-side virus protection. Cross-platform access is available via native desktop clients (Windows, macOS, Linux), a virtual drive client, mobile apps (iOS, Android), and web access.

Seafile is packaged as a free and open-source Community Edition and a paid Professional Edition for on-premises deployment, licensed per user annually with a free tier for small teams and a trial available. The cloud offering, SeafilePlus Cloud, includes a free trial plan and a seat-based Team plan with expandable storage.
