Tinode
Open source messaging platform built mobile-first
Tinode is a free, open source instant messaging platform built mobile-first, designed to let people create chat experiences outside of closed ecosystems. The server is written in pure Go and can be scaled by running in a cluster, while communication runs over secure websockets. Client software is licensed under Apache 2.0, with no license restrictions on connecting modified client software.
The platform is extensible, supporting custom authentication schemes, database backends, automated bots, and plugins. Users can either leverage Tinode's hosting or host the platform themselves for full control. The source code is fully accessible for customization and extension.
Tinode is suited to developers and organizations building their own messaging solutions. It can be self-hosted or run on Tinode's hosting, and the open source model allows starting small with the ability to scale as needed.
