Tasmota

Open source firmware for ESP devices with local control and automation.

Visit Tasmota

Tasmota is open-source firmware for ESP8266, ESP8285 and ESP32-family devices, providing local control over MQTT, Web UI, HTTP or serial, with setup and updates handled through the webUI and OTA. It supports automation through timers, rules and the Berry scripting language, and integrates with home automation platforms including Home Assistant, Domoticz, openHAB, Node-RED and KNX, with optional cloud MQTT via AWS IoT Core and Azure IoT Hub.

Capabilities include Matter support on ESP32, Zigbee and BLE gateway modes, protocol bridging (IR, RF, DALI, Modbus, OpenTherm, LoRa, HDMI-CEC), sensor and peripheral support over I²C, SPI, 1-Wire and analog, light and dimmer control, shutters and blinds, thermostat control, smart meter reading, displays with LVGL touch UIs, I2S audio, LED animation, and networking features such as IPv6, WireGuard VPN and Wi-Fi range extender mode. Some features require compiling a custom build due to flash size limits.

Tasmota is aimed at users who want local control of ESP-based devices and integration with existing smart home systems. It is distributed as open-source firmware with precompiled release binaries and a web installer; no paid editions or usage-based plans are indicated.
