SQLite

Small. Fast. Reliable. Choose any three.

Visit SQLite

SQLite is an embedded, serverless SQL database engine implemented as a C-language library. It runs in-process with no separate server, requires no configuration or administration, and reads and writes directly to ordinary disk files, with a complete database stored in a single cross-platform file. Transactions are ACID even after system crashes and power failures.

The engine provides a full-featured SQL implementation including partial indexes, indexes on expressions, JSON, common table expressions, and window functions. It is written in ANSI-C, ships as a single source file with no external dependencies, and includes TCL bindings plus a standalone command-line interface client; bindings for other languages are available separately. Supported platforms include Android, BSD, iOS, Linux, Mac, Solaris, VxWorks, and Windows.

SQLite is intended for use as an embedded database in applications, as an application file format, as a database for small to medium-sized websites, as a database for Internet of Things and electronic devices, and as a stand-in for an enterprise RDBMS in demonstrations and testing. The source code is in the public domain and free for any purpose; professional support is available separately.
