Sonic Garbage
A browser-based sound grid for creating and sharing compositions.
Sonic Garbage is a browser-based tool for building compositions from a grid of colored sound squares. Hovering over a square plays it, clicking starts a loop, and squares can be sorted by audio energy, length, or randomly. Compositions can be shared through a URL that preserves square order, key and MIDI bindings, and volume settings.
Key bindings use a–z and 0–9, with multiple squares assignable to one key and shift for one-shot playback. MIDI Note On messages can be bound to squares, and each square's volume is adjustable by clicking and dragging. Squares can be downloaded, performances recorded in the browser, and edits undone or redone. A mobile version is also available.
The tool is aimed at users who want to assemble and perform sound grids in the browser, with sharing for collaborators. The pages do not describe a free plan, trial, or paid editions.
