ChucK

Strongly-timed programming language for interactive sound synthesis and music

Visit ChucK

ChucK is an open-source programming language for real-time sound synthesis and music creation. It uses a strongly-timed, time-based concurrent programming model with dynamic control rates, and lets you add and modify code while a program is running. It supports MIDI, OpenSoundControl, HID devices, and multi-channel audio, and runs on macOS, Windows, and Linux.

Related tools and integrations include ChuGL for strongly-timed 2D/3D graphics, WebChucK for running ChucK in browsers, the ChuMP package manager, SmucK for symbolic music notation and playback, ChAI for building interactive AI musical systems, Chunity for Unity, FaucK for FAUST, ChucKDesigner for TouchDesigner, Chunreal for Unreal Engine, and ChucK~ for Pure Data and Max/MSP. Documentation, an API reference, and examples are available.

ChucK is aimed at composers, researchers, and performers building and experimenting with audio synthesis and analysis programs and real-time interactive music. It is open-source and freely available, with a WebChucK IDE for trying it in the browser.
