ReadMe
Developer-friendly API documentation
ReadMe is a documentation platform for building interactive API reference sites from OpenAPI specifications, along with guides, recipes, changelogs, and discussion forums. It addresses the problem of keeping API documentation accurate and current as code evolves, with bi-directional sync to GitHub, GitHub Enterprise Server, and GitLab, plus versioning through branches and review workflows.
Core capabilities include a WYSIWYG editor, MDX and reusable content components, an API reference generated from OAS files with code samples and authentication handling, and syncing via CLI or API. AI features include an AI writing assistant, AI Linter for enforcing style guides, AI Writer that proposes documentation updates from pull requests, Ask AI search, Docs Audit, MCP Server creation, and AI translations. Integrations cover GitHub, GitLab, and third-party services, with access through a ReadMe API.
ReadMe is aimed at API teams and developers maintaining documentation. It is packaged in a free Starter plan, a Pro plan with a free trial, and an Enterprise edition; Ask AI is available as a paid add-on across plans.
