Privacy Badger is a free browser extension from the Electronic Frontier Foundation that blocks third-party trackers that follow users across websites. It uses algorithmic detection rather than human-curated blocklists: when it observes the same third-party host tracking across multiple sites, it stops loading content from that host. It also sends Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals, blocks cookies, replaces social media and other widgets with click-to-activate placeholders, and removes outgoing link click tracking on Facebook and Google.
The extension receives periodic learning updates from Badger Sett to discover trackers on popular sites, and detects techniques including uniquely identifying cookies, local storage supercookies, and canvas fingerprinting. Per-domain sliders in the extension menu let users adjust what is blocked. It is available for Chrome, Firefox, Firefox for Android, Edge, Edge for Android, Opera, and Brave, with alternative installation options and release notes published. Privacy Badger is free to use.
