Postfix

A mail server intended as an alternative to Sendmail

Visit Postfix

Postfix is a mail server originally developed at IBM research as an alternative to Sendmail. It aims to be fast, easy to administer, and secure, with an external interface that resembles Sendmail while using an entirely different internal implementation. Wietse Venema continues to maintain the project.

Postfix is distributed as source code that can be built for UNIX-like systems including AIX, BSD, HP-UX, Linux, MacOS X, and Solaris. It is also distributed as ready-to-run code by operating system vendors, appliance vendors, and other providers, whose versions may differ slightly from the software described on the project site. The project provides documentation, add-on software, packages and ports, mailing lists, and announcements alongside the source distribution.
