Exim
Message transfer agent (MTA) for Unix systems.
Exim is a message transfer agent (MTA) for Unix systems connected to the Internet, originally developed at the University of Cambridge. It handles the routing and delivery of email, with flexibility in how mail is routed and extensive facilities for checking incoming mail. It can be installed in place of Sendmail, though its configuration differs.
Exim is freely available under the GNU General Public Licence. The current version is 4.100, with maintenance releases published mainly for package maintainers; beta versions may be available in Testing directories. Versions prior to 4.100 are obsolete, including the 3.x series. Security advisories and CVE disclosures are published for the project. Documentation, mailing lists, a wiki, and bug tracking are available alongside the download.
