Visit Piler

Piler is an open source email archiving platform for organizations that need to retain mail for compliance, reduce storage use, and manage archived messages. It captures mail through a built-in SMTP server with STARTTLS support, applies retention and exclusion rules, and stores attachments with deduplication and zlib compression. AES-256 encryption and digital signing with verification provide tamper-evident archives.

Archived messages can be searched with simple and advanced query builders, saved search criteria, tags, and notes, then viewed, exported to EML, or restored to a mailbox. Import is supported from EML files, standard mailbox formats, and POP3 or IMAP accounts. The browser-based interface includes AD/LDAP authentication, SSO, Google OAuth, IMAP and POP3 authentication, two-factor authentication, custom authentication hooks, and granular access control, along with internationalization. Monitoring and audit features cover event logging, audit log search, legal hold, and status information with charts.

Piler is aimed at organizations managing email compliance, retention, and archive access across teams. It is available as an open source download.
