Orx

A 2.5D data-driven game development engine for C/C++ programmers.

Visit Orx

Orx is an open-source 2.5D game development engine for C/C++ programmers. It uses data-driven configuration to create objects and scenes without recompiling, covering rendering, audio, physics, input, animation and event handling in a single framework.

The engine includes 3D-accelerated rendering with OpenGL on desktop and OpenGL ES on mobile, sprite batch rendering, camera and viewport systems, and a flexible render pipeline with custom shaders and multiple render targets. Audio features cover 3D sound, pitch and stereo control, recording and custom filters. Rigid body physics with joints, an abstract input system for keyboard, joystick, mouse and touch, localization, and a data-driven animation graph are also included. The plugin-based architecture allows extending the engine or porting it to new platforms.

Orx targets Windows, Linux, MacOS, iPhone/iPad and Android. It is licensed under the zlib license, permitting use and modification for both freeware and commercial projects.
