Visit OpenMPT

OpenMPT is a free tracker application for Windows that can be used either as a classic sample-based tracker for editing and playing tracked music or as a DAW with plugin support. It imports a wide range of module formats and natively edits Impulse Tracker, FastTracker, Scream Tracker and ProTracker files, alongside its own song format.

The software provides a native Windows GUI, VST effects and instruments, DirectX audio plugins, ASIO output, and a built-in OPL3 emulator. It supports multiple sequences per file, custom tunings, templates, and configurable keyboard layouts with MIDI CC bindings. The editor offers a tabbed, multi-document interface with a treeview file browser, up to 128 editing channels, a sample editor with normalization and resampling tools, and pattern-based VST automation. Output runs through WASAPI, WaveOut, ASIO or WaveRT at up to 192 kHz and 32-bit, with a built-in global equalizer. Export covers WAV, FLAC, MP3, Ogg, Opus, MIDI and OPL register dumps.

It is aimed at musicians working with tracked music formats as well as those wanting a DAW-style workflow, and it is portable with no installation required. The application is free software; no paid editions, trials or seat-based plans are described.
