OpenLiteSpeed

The Power of LiteSpeed, the Freedom of Open Source

Visit OpenLiteSpeed

OpenLiteSpeed is the open-source edition of LiteSpeed Web Server, released under GPLv3. It is an event-driven web server designed to handle high connection volumes with lower overhead on existing hardware, while remaining compatible with Apache mod_rewrite rules so existing rewrite configurations can be reused without new syntax.

The server includes a built-in WebAdmin GUI, a full-page cache module, PHP LiteSpeed SAPI for running PHP applications natively, and ModSecurity v3 integration with anti-DDoS connection and bandwidth throttling. A LiteSpeed Prometheus Exporter exposes server metrics for use with Prometheus, Grafana, and similar analytics tools. Installation options include a LiteSpeed repository, binary install, source code, one-click install, and Docker, along with prebuilt cloud images. CyberPanel is supported as a control panel, and one-click setup covers OpenLiteSpeed, MariaDB, and WordPress.

OpenLiteSpeed is free to download, use, distribute, and modify under GPLv3, with an OEM license available for inclusion in proprietary products. It targets system administrators and site operators running PHP and WordPress workloads who want an event-driven server with caching and Apache-compatible configuration.
