OpenFreeMap
Open-source map hosting for displaying custom maps on websites and apps
OpenFreeMap is an open-source map hosting project that lets you display custom maps on websites and apps using data from OpenStreetMap. It addresses the cost and complexity of map tile hosting by offering two options: self-hosting with the full production setup, or using the public instance, which has no limits on map views or requests, no registration, no API keys, and no cookies. Commercial usage is allowed, and attribution is required.
The project provides default styles including Positron, Bright, Liberty, Dark, Fiord, and 3D, along with a Quick Start Guide for integration. Weekly full planet downloads are available in Btrfs and MBTiles formats. The map schema uses unmodified OpenMapTiles, and the project is MIT licensed. The public instance runs on dedicated servers serving static files via nginx.
OpenFreeMap is suited to developers and organizations that need map tiles for websites or applications without usage-based costs. It is free to use through the public instance or self-hosting, with no stated plans, trials, or seat-based editions. The project is funded through donations and GitHub Sponsors; no SLA guarantees or personalized support are currently offered, though a Pro plan may be introduced in the future.
