Nucleobytes is a Dutch software company founded by two PhD students, Alexander Griekspoor and Tom Groothuis, who met while studying Medical Biology at the Free University of Amsterdam. The company builds Mac and iOS applications for scientists and researchers, including Apple Design Award-winning apps 4Peaks and EnzymeX. Papers, another app originally published under the Mekentosj name, was acquired by Springer (now part of Digital Science) in 2012.
