MRBS is a free, GPL-licensed web application for booking meeting rooms and other resources. It runs on PHP with MySQL or PostgreSQL and is accessed through a browser from any workstation, making it suitable for web or intranet deployment. The application prevents conflicting entries from being submitted and supports bookings by time or period.

Features include flexible repeating bookings, day, week, and month views, a reporting option, and multiple authentication levels covering read-only, user, and admin roles. Authentication can integrate with existing user databases such as Netware, NT Domain, and NIS. Room administrators can receive email notifications of bookings, and multiple languages are supported through language-specific string files.

MRBS is aimed at organizations managing shared rooms or other bookable resources, including schools, where period-based bookings are useful. It is distributed as free, open-source software under the GPL, with source code and an issue tracker hosted on GitHub. A demonstration version is available for evaluation.
