mosparo is an open-source spam protection system for web forms that checks submissions against user-defined rules and blocks messages before they reach an inbox. It avoids puzzles, cookies, and tracking, relying instead on content matching, an optional honeypot field, and a minimum form completion time. Form data is encrypted or hashed before storage and automatically deleted after 14 days.
The system supports rule types including words, domains, email addresses, IP addresses, providers, Unicode blocks, user agents, and websites, with optional import from remote sources. It offers automatic delay and blocking for repeated submissions, GeoIP2 lookup, customizable box design, and multi-project support from one installation. API clients are available for Go, Java, JavaScript, .NET, PHP, and Python, with plugins for WordPress, Drupal, TYPO3, Symfony, Django, and others. The frontend box supports 26 languages; the backend is available in six.
mosparo is self-hosted on standard web hosting with PHP 8.1.10 or newer and a supported database, and it connects to sites via API regardless of their environment. It is free to use for both private and commercial projects, with no paid editions or seat-based plans indicated.
