marimo
An open-source reactive Python notebook where running a cell or interacting with a UI cell
marimo is an open-source reactive Python notebook that keeps code, outputs, and program state consistent: running a cell or interacting with a UI element automatically runs dependent cells or marks them as stale, and deleting a cell removes its variables from memory. Notebooks are stored as pure Python files, so they can be executed as scripts, imported from one another, tested with pytest, and deployed as interactive web apps or slides.
Features include native SQL support with a built-in engine for dataframes, databases, and lakehouses; interactive dataframes with paging, search, filter, and sort; synchronized UI elements such as sliders and dropdowns; dynamic markdown; and built-in package management. AI features include TAB autocompletion, error auto-fixing with diffs, an integrated chat sidebar, an Agent sidebar for ACP-compatible agents, and marimo pair for connecting coding agents to a running notebook, with support for OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, Ollama, and OpenAI-compatible APIs. Integrations cover MotherDuck, Google Cloud Storage, BigQuery, and Google Sheets. It runs locally or in the browser via WASM, with editor support for VS Code, PyCharm, Cursor, Neovim, and Zed.
marimo targets Python users working with data, research, tooling, and teaching. The notebook itself is free and open-source, and molab provides a free cloud-hosted notebook with built-in AI assistance.
