Ignite Realtime
Open source community for real-time collaboration via XMPP.
Ignite Realtime is an open-source community that develops real-time collaboration software based on the XMPP protocol. Its products let organizations run their own instant messaging and collaboration service rather than relying on a third-party provider, while retaining interoperability with other XMPP-based tools.
The product family includes the Openfire server, a cross-platform real-time collaboration server with plugin support, directory integration (Active Directory or LDAP), database support, message archiving, and a REST API; the Spark IM client, which offers group chat, telephony integration, spell checking, chat room bookmarks, and tabbed conversations; and Pàdé, a browser-extension client providing instant messaging, audio/video conferencing, screen sharing, real-time application collaboration, and SIP telephony integration. Openfire includes a setup wizard and a demoboot option for quick testing.
The software is aimed at end-users, developers, and service providers who want to build or deploy standards-based real-time collaboration tools. It is released under open-source licensing, including the Apache License for Openfire, and can be extended through plugins and configuration.
