hledger

hledger is free, cross-platform accounting software that records money, investments, cryptocurrencies, time, or other countable items in human-readable plain text files. It handles both simple and complex finances, runs as a single binary, and can be combined with tools such as version control, scripts, and LLMs. Transactions can be entered with a text editor, through a UI, or imported from banks and other sources.

Core capabilities include double-entry bookkeeping with inferred amounts, strict data checking, and reports such as registers, balance sheets, and income statements.
