Hexo is a static site generator for blogs built on Node.js. It turns Markdown content into site files and supports one-command deployment to platforms such as GitHub Pages and Heroku. It can be extended through plugins and themes.

Hexo supports GitHub Flavored Markdown and most Octopress plugins. It provides APIs for extensibility, supports template engines including EJS, Pug, and Nunjucks, and integrates with NPM packages such as Babel, PostCSS, Less, and Sass. A library of themes is available, and custom themes can be created using compatible template engines. Hexo is installed via npm and initialized with the hexo-cli command.

Hexo is intended for people building blogs and websites. It is open source, with documentation licensed under CC BY 4.0. The pages do not describe paid plans, trials, editions, or seat-based or usage-based packaging.
