Glyphs 4 is a Mac font editor designed for creating high-precision vector lettering, icons, and complete typefaces. It addresses the need for a dedicated tool that combines drawing, shape management, and font production in one application, replacing the need to switch between general vector software and separate font utilities.
The software provides a range of drawing and editing capabilities, including pen points for variable strokes, star nodes for smooth curve transitions, and advanced Bézier control. It supports color font formats such as COLRv1, SVG, and sbix, and offers visual kerning groups, a new sidebar for tool access, and a live text preview for testing fonts. Users can manage complex font families with a master selector, write and debug Python scripts within the app, and export static and variable OpenType fonts as well as images in PNG, SVG, and PDF formats.
Glyphs 4 is aimed at type designers, lettering artists, and icon creators who work on macOS. The product is available as a paid upgrade from previous versions, with a trial version offered for evaluation. It is licensed per user and does not include a free plan.
