Concourse is an open-source continuous automation tool for CI/CD, built around resources, tasks, and jobs. Pipelines are defined in code as configuration files, uploaded through the fly CLI, and committed to source control for recovery and migration. The web UI visualizes pipelines as a dependency graph of jobs and resources, with passed constraints linking jobs.

Builds run in containers, with each task specifying its own image. The fly intercept command accesses a running build's containers for debugging, and fly execute runs builds locally with modified inputs. Resource types define external artifacts that pipelines monitor, retrieve, and update; custom resource types can be added via the pipeline's resource_types field, with a git resource type included by default.
