Cheq (CheqUPI) is a UPI-based wallet app that lets foreign nationals and NRIs make QR code payments at merchants across India. Users download the app, complete KYC with a passport and Indian VISA, top up the wallet with a foreign card or bank account, and scan QR codes to pay. The service is available to citizens of G20 nations and Non-resident Indian citizens, and does not require an Indian SIM or bank account.
The app runs on Android and iOS and supports payments at shops, dining, travel, and other merchants, including through popular apps such as OLA. Wallet funds can be added via Transcorp branches, which accept cash and cards, or through an instant payment gateway. The homepage lists a top-up fee and no per-transaction cost, along with interbank forex rates.
