Affirm is a consumer payment service that lets shoppers split purchases into scheduled payments instead of paying the full amount upfront. It offers Pay in 4, which divides a purchase into four interest-free payments, and longer monthly plans with rates from 0–36% APR, subject to an eligibility check. Options depend on the purchase amount and merchant, and a down payment may be required.
Beyond payment plans, Affirm offers the Affirm Card, a Visa debit card, and the Affirm Money Account, which is held with Cross River Bank, Member FDIC. A one-time-use virtual card is also available. Affirm is not a bank; FDIC insurance applies to accounts held with the issuing partner banks. The service is aimed at consumers shopping with participating merchants, with availability and eligibility varying by purchase.
