AngularJS
JavaScript MVW framework for extending HTML with dynamic views
AngularJS is a JavaScript framework for building dynamic views in web applications by extending HTML. It addresses the limitations of static HTML through data binding, which keeps the model and view in sync, and controllers that define behavior without manual DOM manipulation. Models are plain JavaScript objects, and the framework is designed to be extensible and compatible with other libraries.
Key capabilities include directives for creating reusable components and custom HTML syntax, deep linking for bookmarkable application locations, declarative client-side form validation, and built-in services for server communication over XHR and other backends. Dependency injection provides a declarative way to wire the application, supporting testability alongside bundled mocks and an end-to-end scenario runner. Localization is supported through locale-aware filters and stemming directives.
AngularJS is aimed at developers building web applications. It is distributed as an open-source project under the MIT license, with documentation under CC BY 4.0, and is available for download and via GitHub. Official support ended in January 2022; the actively supported successor is Angular.
