XMonad

A dynamically tiling X11 window manager that is written and configured in Haskell.

Visit XMonad

XMonad is a tiling window manager for X11, written and configured in Haskell. It automatically arranges windows so users can focus on their work rather than manually aligning and searching for them. The default setup is minimal, shipping without window decorations, a status bar, or an icon dock.

Its core features include automatic window tiling and management, first-class keyboard support, per-workspace layout algorithms, and full support for tiling on multi-head displays. It also supports floating, tabbing, and decorated windows, XRandR monitor management, compositing, and GNOME and KDE utilities. An extension library (xmonad-contrib) adds support for window decorations, status bars, and icon docks, and the configuration supports on-the-fly reconfiguration.

XMonad is aimed at users of X11 desktops who want a keyboard-driven, scriptable window manager. It is distributed as open source software, with releases of xmonad and xmonad-contrib available for download.
