TheTVDB.com

Community-driven TV and movie metadata database with an API

Visit TheTVDB.com

TheTVDB is a community-maintained database of television and film metadata, founded in 2006 and owned by Whip Media. Registered users add and refine records for series, movies, episodes, artwork, cast and crew, and the resulting data is shared with other sites, mobile apps, and devices. The catalog covers TV series, movies, seasons, episodes, people, companies, translations, and trailers, with adult content disallowed.

Records are exposed to developers through an API, which can serve as a primary metadata source or supplement existing data across platforms. Metadata fields include title, overview, genres, ratings, external IDs, cast and crew, translations, season and episode structure, air dates, artwork, trailers, awards, franchises, and structured taxonomy. The site also offers Discover, On Today, Awards, Companies, Lists, People, and Tagging & Taxonomy sections, along with a knowledgebase, feature suggestions, and support.

The service is aimed at content providers, video distributors, device manufacturers, retailers, information providers, and entertainment software developers. Individuals can create a free account to add records, earn points, and subscribe; developer access to the API is available through subscription.
