Theia IDE
AI-native open-source cloud and desktop IDE
Theia IDE is an AI-native, open-source IDE for cloud and desktop. It provides AI-powered features like chat, code completion, terminal assistance, and custom agents using arbitrary LLMs. Users can bring their own API key or subscription and connect to any AI provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or self-hosted/local models) with no vendor lock-in. The IDE sends no telemetry on code, prompts, or AI usage. It supports the Language Server Protocol (LSP) for editing in many programming languages and is compatible with VS Code extensions via the open-vsx registry. Theia IDE is built on the modular Eclipse Theia platform and is not a fork of VS Code.
