Temporal

Durable execution platform for building applications that recover from failures

Visit Temporal

Temporal is an open-source durable execution platform for building applications that continue reliably through failures in APIs, networks, and services. Developers write business logic as Workflows and Activities in the languages they already use, while Temporal captures state at every step so running code can be recovered, replayed, or paused without manual intervention.

The platform provides native retries with configurable policies, timers and long-running waits, schedules as an alternative to Cron, signals for human-in-the-loop input, task queues, and execution visibility for inspecting and replaying Workflow state. SDKs are available for Go, Java, TypeScript, Python, and .NET, supporting polyglot workflows. The Temporal Service persists application state and can be self-hosted as part of the open-source project or run through Temporal Cloud, a managed service with namespace isolation and encryption. A Data Converter supports client-side encryption of payloads.

Temporal is aimed at developers and engineering teams building distributed systems, event-driven architectures, batch processing, scheduled jobs, state machines, and long-running workflows. The open-source project is MIT-licensed and can be self-hosted; Temporal Cloud is offered as a managed, usage-based service.
