Static web publishing for front-end developers from the command line
Surge is a static web hosting and publishing tool that lets developers put static sites and client-side applications online from the command line. It is designed to remove setup friction: running the Surge CLI in a project directory uploads the files to a CDN and returns a published URL, with support for custom domains through a CNAME.
The tool integrates with common build workflows, including Grunt, Gulp, npm run scripts, Jekyll, static site generators, Node.js, and CI services such as Travis CI, CircleCI, and Codeship. Git hooks can trigger deployment on push. Projects can include pushState support for single-page apps, custom 404.html pages, cross-origin resource support, and collaborators can be added through the CLI. Surge provides free custom domain support and basic SSL for surge.sh subdomains.
