Neocities is a static web hosting service for building and sharing personal HTML websites. It provides a browser-based HTML editor for creating sites directly in the browser, as well as drag-and-drop file uploading for users who prefer desktop editors. Sites are published to a public gallery where visitors can browse and discover content through tags, follow favorite sites to receive updates in a news feed, and interact with builders through comments and social sharing.
The platform includes developer tools such as a command line tool, RSS feeds for every site, and APIs for building applications. Sites are served through a caching anycast CDN with SSL and HTTP/2 support. Neocities is open source, and the service states that it does not place advertising on sites or sell user data for AI training. It is funded through supporter accounts and donations.
Neocities is aimed at individuals learning HTML and CSS, building personal homepages, portfolios, digital gardens, zines, archives, and experimental projects. A free way to create and host a website is offered, with supporter accounts and donations available to fund the service.
