ScreenChunk
Capture. Chunk. Share.
ScreenChunk is a screen recording and live broadcasting tool that captures a user’s screen and streams it in real time over WebRTC to viewers via a single share link. It addresses the need for instant, low-latency screen sharing without requiring viewers to install any software or create accounts. Recordings can be automatically split into bite-sized WebM clips, and users can choose to encrypt clips with client-side AES-256-GCM password protection or sync them directly to their personal Google Drive.
The tool includes a live streaming engine with sub-second latency, instant watcher links, password-protected streams, and built-in live chat. It supports capturing the entire desktop, a window, or a specific browser tab, and allows dynamic cropping of 2D sub-regions using hardware-accelerated Canvas rendering. ScreenChunk is available as a Chrome extension and is self-hosted, with no cloud server middleman for recordings.
ScreenChunk is designed for broadcasters and instructors, remote teams, developers and QA professionals, and support engineers. It is offered as a free product with no mention of paid editions or usage limits; users can sign up or continue as a guest without an account.
