Saffron is a technical hiring platform that lets candidates complete assessments in a browser-based IDE with Claude Code running on a company's actual repository. It addresses the gap between how engineers work with AI on the job and what traditional interviews measure, capturing every keystroke, prompt, and AI interaction so hiring teams can see how a candidate builds rather than only the final output.
The platform connects to GitHub repositories or pre-built templates, where candidates build, debug, and refactor real code without local setup. Submissions are scored by 10+ independent AI review agents against custom evaluation rubrics, with each line of code classified as human-written, AI-generated, or AI-modified. Full session replay covers every keystroke, file, and AI interaction, and AI-checked debrief questions verify candidate understanding. Enterprise plans add SSO, team management, custom templates, and custom integrations.
Saffron is aimed at engineering teams hiring at scale. It is packaged in Basic, Standard, and Premium tiers with monthly assessment allowances, plus an Enterprise edition with unlimited assessments and custom terms. Additional assessments are available per use, and each assessment includes a Claude Code budget.
