Draw UML diagrams from simple text descriptions.
PlantUML is an open-source tool for creating diagrams from simple textual descriptions. It supports a range of UML diagram types, including sequence, use case, class, object, activity, component, deployment, state, and timing diagrams, as well as non-UML diagrams such as JSON, YAML, Gantt, mind maps, entity relationship diagrams, and charts. Diagrams can be exported as PNG, SVG, LaTeX, EPS, and ASCII art.
Multiple layout engines are available, including Graphviz, Smetana, VizJs, and ELK, with sequence diagrams offering Puma and Teoz engines. An in-browser editor runs entirely in the browser using a JavaScript rendering engine, and a browser extension renders diagrams directly inside GitHub. Additional features include hyperlinks, tooltips, rich text formatting, emoticons, Unicode, icons with Creole, OpenIconic icons, sprite icons, and AsciiMath expressions. PlantUML integrates with Dokuwiki, Asciidoc, and Markdown.
