Graphviz
Open source graph visualization software
Graphviz is open source graph visualization software that turns descriptions of graphs and networks into diagrams. It addresses the need to represent structural information visually across fields such as networking, bioinformatics, software engineering, database and web design, and machine learning. Graphs are typically generated from external data sources, though they can also be created and edited manually as raw text files or within a graphical editor.
The layout programs accept graph descriptions written in a simple text language and produce output in formats including images, SVG, PDF, and Postscript, or display them in an interactive graph browser. Diagram options cover colors, fonts, tabular node layouts, line styles, hyperlinks, and custom shapes. The project includes several main layout programs, web and interactive graphical interfaces, auxiliary tools, libraries, and language bindings. Viewers include gvedit, a Qt-based viewer and editor, along with web sandbox editors; GXL, an XML dialect, is also supported.
Graphviz is aimed at technical domains where structural relationships need to be rendered as diagrams, and it is not intended as a Visio replacement. It is distributed as open source, with the code base hosted on GitLab and documentation included in the released package.
