phpMyAdmin is a free, open-source web tool written in PHP for administering MySQL and MariaDB databases. It provides a browser interface for managing databases, tables, columns, relations, indexes, and users, and allows direct execution of SQL commands. The project is a member of the Software Freedom Conservancy and is translated into 98 languages, including left-to-right and right-to-left scripts.
Its features include browsing, creating, copying, dropping, renaming, and altering databases, tables, fields, and indexes; server maintenance with configuration suggestions; executing, editing, and bookmarking SQL statements, including batch queries; managing MySQL user accounts and privileges; and support for stored procedures and triggers. It supports data import from CSV and SQL, and export to CSV, SQL, XML, PDF, OpenDocument, Word, LaTeX, and other formats. Additional capabilities include multi-server administration, database schema visualization, query-by-example, global database search, and custom data transformations such as displaying BLOB data as images or download links. The project offers comprehensive documentation, a wiki for ideas and tutorials, and multiple support channels.
