phpList is an email marketing platform for sending campaigns to subscriber lists, available either as a hosted service or as on-premise software you run yourself. It addresses deliverability concerns through DKIM, SPF and SSL configuration, shared and dedicated IP pools, bounce automation with automatic flagging of problematic addresses, throttle calibration, abuse complaint management, and blacklist and sender score monitoring.
Core capabilities include segmentation based on subscriber attributes, drip campaigns and autoresponders, subscriber insights covering history, demographics and engagement, and real-time campaign and audience data. Campaigns can be built from a webpage, blog feed or from scratch, with unlimited testing before sending. The platform also supports GDPR-related features, detailed message analytics, delivery monitoring, scheduling and repeat sending, image embedding, email attachments, custom domains, image storage, multiple user accounts, subscriber exclude lists, and additional plugins.
phpList Hosted offers a forever free trial account with the same capabilities as paid accounts, along with a low-cost entry plan and three paid editions: pay-per-subscriber, pay-per-message, and a Pro marketer account, with optional Plus features. Longer-term customers receive loyalty discounts, and pay-per-message plans can purchase top-ups. phpList On-premise is packaged as self-hosted software with priority access to security and stability fixes.
