PDF Chain
Graphical desktop interface for the PDFtk command-line tool on Unix-like systems.
PDF Chain is a graphical front-end for PDFtk, a command-line PDF toolkit. It lets users configure PDF operations through an interface, then generates the corresponding PDFtk command and runs it on the local system. Because it relies on PDFtk, that tool must already be installed. The program targets Unix-like systems and is written in C++ using the GTKmm library, released under the GNU General Public License (GPLv3), and comes without warranty.
Its features cover combining selected pages or whole documents, choosing page ranges or even/odd pages, rotating, shuffling, and splitting a document into single pages. It supports input passwords, output permissions, user and owner passwords, and encryption at 40 or 128 bits, along with attaching files and printing a background or stamp on each page. A Tools section includes extracting attached files, compressing and uncompressing, dumping data and data fields in ASCII or UTF-8, updating info, generating FDF, filling and flattening forms, and dropping XFA.
PDF Chain is distributed as a free download for Unix-like systems; no trial, editions, or seat-based or usage-based packaging is described.
