Onyx is an open source enterprise search and AI assistant that connects to a company's knowledge sources and supplies humans and agents with context for answering questions. It indexes connected tools in the background with permission awareness, so queries return cited results across sources while respecting each source's access controls.

The platform offers chat and search interfaces, custom AI agents, actions via MCP and OpenAPI, web search, deep research, code interpreter, and image generation. It connects to 40+ tools through OAuth or API key, syncs permissions from sources such as Confluence, Jira, GitHub, Google Drive, Gmail, Slack, Salesforce, and SharePoint, and is available as a desktop app, MCP, Slackbot, and Chrome extension.
