MyLifeElsewhere

MyLifeElsewhere is a collaborative community for comparing countries and cities worldwide. It helps users understand how locations differ in cost of living, quality of life, and geographic size, and what life might be like if they moved elsewhere. The platform covers more than 200 countries and 5,000 cities, drawing on data from sources including the CIA World Factbook, World Bank Open Data, and the United Nations Statistics Division, alongside community-contributed price data.

Core tools include Quality of Life comparisons covering healthcare, education, safety, and economic factors; Cost of Living comparisons for groceries, rent, transportation, and other expenses; and Size Comparison tools that overlay countries, states, and cities on interactive true-size maps that correct Mercator distortions. A Salary Estimator calculates the income needed to maintain a current lifestyle in another location, and a drag-and-drop map builder lets users create custom true-size comparisons. Composite rankings are available for digital nomads, retirement, and families. The service also publishes blog insights and community questions, and offers a free mobile app, MapSize, for comparing places to scale on iOS and Android without an account.
