Metals-API is a JSON API for real-time and historical prices of precious metals such as gold, silver, platinum and palladium, industrial metals, and currencies. It provides endpoints for latest rates, historical rates, time-series, fluctuation, intraday, bid/ask, OHLC, and historical LME and LBMA data, along with currency conversion. The service covers symbols from sources including LME, COMEX, LBMA, CME, NYSE, SMM, India and CBOE, with units specified per troy ounce for precious metals and per ounce, pound, kilogram or metric ton for industrial metals.

The API is aimed at developers, small and medium businesses, and larger organizations building financial, trading, analytics and fintech applications. It offers SDKs for Python, Node.js, PHP and Java, plus WordPress and Drupal modules, and an MCP endpoint. Pricing is subscription-based with monthly and yearly editions named Copper, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Palladium and Rhodium. Plans differ by monthly API call allowance, symbols per request, time-series and intraday limits, rate limits, and update frequency, with additional calls billed separately. Multiple active subscriptions can be combined to increase capacity, and subscriptions can be cancelled at any time.
