Lantern
Lantern — Postgres vector database and toolkit for building AI applications
Lantern provides advanced search capabilities inside Postgres without requiring a separate vector database or search engine. It supports vector search with pgvector, BM25 text search, and hybrid search combining both using RRF or reranking algorithms. Vector index creation can be offloaded to a separate machine through serverless indexing to avoid slowing the main database. Embeddings and LLM outputs can be generated with simple SQL commands, supporting 20+ embedding models and LLMs from OpenAI, Cohere, Jina AI, and open-source providers. It works with plain SQL or common ORMs such as Sequelize, Knex, and Django.
