Karabiner-Elements is a keyboard customizer for macOS that changes how keys behave. It supports configuration through a graphical interface, predefined community rules that can be imported from the internet, and custom rules written by the user.
The tool includes predefined rules such as Diamond cursor, Emacs key bindings anywhere, Vi key bindings anywhere, Prevent unintended command-q, and Mouse keys. Simple mappings can be set up from the GUI, while existing rules can be modified or new rules created from scratch. It runs on Intel-based Macs and Apple Silicon Macs across several macOS versions, with separate downloads for different releases.
