StartIsBack is a shell customization utility for Windows 8 and Windows 10 that restores a Windows 7-style Start menu and Start button, giving users a familiar way to launch programs, open documents, search, reach system locations, and shut down the PC. Separate builds are provided for each Windows version: StartIsBack for Windows 8, StartIsBack+ for Windows 8.1, StartIsBack++ for Windows 10, and StartAllBack for Windows 11.

StartIsBack++ can apply skins to the taskbar and Start menu, replace jump lists, center or enlarge taskbar icons, adjust taskbar color and translucency, and reduce resource usage. It supports all Windows languages, offers configurable shortcuts and Start button appearance, and can be used for taskbar styling alone. Installation does not require administrator rights, and no additional processes or services are run.

A 30-day trial runs without limitations; after that the Start menu becomes blank until activated. A license key works across StartIsBack versions, covers a limited number of computers, and does not expire, though new OS versions may require a license upgrade. A deployment guide and group policy template are available for business use.
