Effortless open-source tool for event organisation
Indico is an open-source event management system developed at CERN that handles the full lifecycle of lectures, meetings, workshops, and conferences. It solves the problem of organizing events of varying complexity by providing a centralized platform for registration, abstract submission, paper reviewing, document storage, room booking, and permanent archival of all event materials and metadata.
The system offers a multi-granular tree-based protection scheme for organizing events within a hierarchy of categories, with different roles definable per event. Its room booking module supports delegation of room management, approval workflows, and management of audiovisual equipment. Indico integrates with collaborative tools such as Zoom for video-conferencing, and includes reviewing functionalities for conference papers, participant badge generation, and a searchable event archive.
Indico is designed for large organizations, research institutes, universities, and enterprises that need secure, scalable event storage and management. It is open-source software, available for download and self-hosting, with a demo version for testing. The project is developed and maintained by CERN, with contributions from partners and individuals.
